Overview
 

Aerial Show Calling is a specialized online course designed for experienced show callers looking to deepen their skills in the unique and high-stakes world of aerial performance. Through a focused and practical approach, this course equips participants with the tools, language, and confidence needed to effectively call aerial acts in live productions.
 

The course is delivered in two live online sessions (2.5 hours each), along with a bonus one-on-one coaching session with the instructor. During this personalized session, students will review and refine a show calling exercise, receiving targeted feedback to strengthen their technique. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
 

Course Format
 

  • 2 live online sessions

  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes per session

  • Platform: Microsoft Teams

  • Interactive discussions and practical exercises

  • Bonus Session: 1 on 1 Aerial Calling exercise
     

Session 1: The Foundations of Aerial Show Calling
 

The first session introduces the core components of aerial performance and how they impact the calling process.
 

Topics include:

  • Types of aerial acts and their unique requirements

  • The anatomy and structure of an aerial act

  • Working with rigging and automation teams

  • Automation basics for show callers

  • Building clear, effective cues

  • Call script layout and organisation
     

Session 2: Applied Aerial Show Calling


The second session focuses on practical application and real-world scenarios, helping students translate foundational knowledge into confident execution.

Topics include:

  • A detailed breakdown of aerial show calling

  • Real-world examples and case studies

  • Managing show stops and unexpected interruptions

  • Responding to artist injury and troubleshooting scenarios

  • Live calling exercises to practice timing, clarity, and decision-making

By the end of this course, participants will have a stronger understanding of the complexities of aerial show calling and the ability to approach live performances with greater precision, awareness, and control.

Upon completion, student will receive a PDF of a Certificate of Completion.
 

Prerequisites
This course is intended for individuals with prior show calling experience. A foundational understanding of cueing and live performance environments is required for students to fully benefit from the material.
